Stress is no excuse

I know it has been awhile since I have written. I know you have thought to yourself, “She has already given up.”

Well, you are wrong. I have not given up.

I have been doing to research for today’s topic and come up completely blank. The internet has thousands of websites with information on dieting, calories, healthy eating, exercise, you name it and you can find it, except this…

How many calories do you consume when you bite your tongue? How much weight do you gain from eating your feelings? Go to your favorite calorie counting app or web site, (after you finish reading this, of course,) enter biting your tongue or eating your feelings.

Nothing.

Seriously, stress is a healthy diet killer. Nothing sends me to the family size macaroni and cheese faster than a negative interaction with my boss at work.

So what is a fat girl (I prefer over-weight woman Thank you very much.) supposed to do when the stress meter hits overload? Well, at work the stairwell is normally empty so I can hide there for a minute or two while I close my eyes and take some (very) deep breathes. On the rare occasion the stairs get crowded (normally after a company-wide email “reminding” everyone about the corporate weight loss goal that is part of this year’s bonus –Is that legal? It shouldn’t be) I use the secret place all women go to hide from the time they reach puberty – the restroom. The only caution here is you may need to test the air in a few different floors before you take your deep, relaxing breathes.

Please leave a comment with your favorite work-place appropriate stress reliever. Please no comments about the lack of photos, a bio or a summary. I can feel the stress building again just typing that sentence.
